The colonists worked together and overcame the preceived injustice because, they didn't like to be taxed more than other British Citizens, so they rebelled, and revolted by boycotting Britian's imports and causing lots of trouble for British troops and officials. Examples of some trouble they caused were the Boston Massacre and Boston Tea Party, they also protested often.
