The Townshend Acts-1767

Another tax that was a cause of the American Revolution, was the Townshend Acts. The Townshend Acts were taxes charged on everyday items  such as: glass, paper, paint, lead, and tea.

These Acts also allowed British Officials to search someone's cargo on a ship randomly, without permission. This was called Writs of Assistance. The Colonists didnot like this because it was still taxation with out representation in British Parliment.

In a result of these taxes colonists boycotted all Britsh goods. Insteas of importing the British goods such as Tea and Cloth, the colonists made what was known as "Liberty Tea" made within the colonies. For cloth, they made homespun cloth to make clothing etc.
